Part One: Privacy Policy

1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how The Social Experiment Club ("the Club," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information about visitors to thesocialexperimentclub.com and about Club members, applicants, and gathering attendees. It should be read together with our Terms of Use, our Membership Terms, and this document's Part Two, the Cookie Policy.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Identity and contact information: name, email address, mailing address, and phone number, collected when you apply for membership, RSVP to a gathering, contact us, or sign up for updates.
Account information: your Member Portal login credentials and account preferences.
Application and screening information: information you provide during the membership application, and the outcome of a background screening performed by our third-party screening provider as described in the Membership Terms.
Payment information: when you pay membership dues or a gathering fee, payment is processed directly by our payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our own systems.
Gathering and RSVP information: which gatherings you RSVP to, attend, or cancel, your position on a waitlist, and any information you choose to provide for a specific gathering, such as dietary or accessibility needs.
Communications: messages you send us, and records of the emails, text messages, and calls we send you.
Usage and device information: collected automatically through cookies and similar technology when you use the site. See the Cookie Policy in Part Two.
Content you submit: photos, comments, or testimonials you choose to share with us.
3. How we use this information
We use the information above to:
Operate and administer memberships, including processing applications and screening results
Process payments for dues and gathering fees
Communicate with you about gatherings, your membership, and Club policies
Send text messages and emails you have agreed to receive
Maintain a safe community and enforce the Code of Conduct and our other policies
Operate, secure, and improve the site
Comply with legal obligations, including background-screening and payment-related recordkeeping requirements
With your consent where required, for marketing about the Club
We do not use your personal information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. Text messages (SMS)
If you opt in to receive text messages from us, we use them to share information about gatherings, membership, and Club updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or get help by replying HELP. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not share your phone number or SMS opt-in status with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as follows:
With service providers who perform functions on our behalf, including our website platform, payment processor, background screening provider, and email or text messaging platform, each limited to the purpose of providing that service to us
With other members, limited to names and information shown in Club spaces for the purpose of Club participation, as described in the Membership Terms
When necessary to comply with the law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of the Club, our members, or the public
In connection with a sale, merger, or reorganization of the Club
With your consent
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Testimonials and endorsements
If we display a testimonial, review, or endorsement from a member on the site, it reflects that individual's real, personal experience. Results and experiences vary, and one member's experience is not necessarily typical of what another member will experience. We do not compensate members for testimonials we display, and any editing is limited to correcting grammar or spelling or shortening for length.
7. Cookies
Our site uses cookies and similar technology. See the Cookie Policy in Part Two for what we use, why, and how to manage your preferences.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide membership services, comply with legal and financial recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
9. How we protect your information
We use measures such as encryption in transit and access limits for staff and administrators who need the information to do their jobs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
Membership and use of this site require you to be at least 21 years old, consistent with our Terms of Use. This site is not directed at children. If we learn that a child has sent us personal information, we will use it only to respond and inform them that they cannot use the site, and will otherwise delete it.
11. Your privacy choices and rights
Regardless of where you live, you may contact us to:
Ask what personal information we hold about you
Ask us to correct inaccurate information
Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to information we are required to keep for legal, financial, or safety reasons
Opt out of marketing communications
To exercise any of these choices, contact us at admin@thesocialexperimentclub.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
12. Third-party links
Our site may link to websites we do not operate, including vendor booking pages and gathering venues. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice such as an email to members.
